Personal Therapy

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy (a term often used interchangeably with counselling, or individual therapy) involves the use of a therapeutic relationship, alongside therapeutic theories and techniques, for the benefit of an individual.

Therapeutic relationship

The therapeutic relationship is based on trust, empathy and care.

My promise is that I will:

  • Never judge you – I will never be judgmental towards you or judge you for anything you say or do. I will always assume good intentions – this doesn’t mean I condone ‘bad’ behaviour, but I will always assume the best, not
    the worst.

  • Always respect you and your autonomy – I will always provide you with sufficient information about how we work together, seek your consent before proceeding, and treat you with respect and dignity.

  • Always hold you in positive regard – I care about my clients.
You matter, your feelings and experiences matter and I will always wish the best for you and act in your interests in everything I do.

Theories & Techniques

I am an integrative therapist, which means I incorporate a number of theories and techniques, (including, for example, CBT, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis) and tailor these to your personal needs.
